We all deserve a break away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives, and luckily for us there are many fantastic places to go visit on our doorstep. Scotland is filled with quirky castles, cool cottages and even tree houses that are guaranteed to make your weekend getaway one to remember. Listing five of our favourites below, we are only scraping top of all the unique places to stay in Scotland…

Loch Tay Highland Lodges

Near Killin, the Loch Tay Highland lodges offer cottages, lodges and wigwams, but it’s the GeoDomes that really stand out. The GeoDomes are right by the loch, with stunning views for miles. The site offers many great activities such as fishing, kayaking and canoeing, and horse riding, hill walking and golf are available nearby. This is the perfect location for a fun weekend away, and with pets allowed, you are able to bring your cuddly companion along with you to join in the fun.

Dalhousie Castle and Spa

Dalhousie Castle and Spa is a stunning 13th century castle just a short distance from Bonnyrig. The castle is an excellent setting for a relaxing getaway with the spa offering a selection of beauty treatments. And after a day at the spa you can go down to the Dungeon restaurant. Dalhousie is the perfect combination of historic and modern, and even offers falconry on the grounds.

Brockloch Tree House

Located in Brockloch Farm in Dumfries and Galloway, these are the perfect balance of tree house and modern comfort. The secluded location is the perfect getaway to relax and escape reality whilst having a very memorable stay in the contemporary tree houses. The words ‘tree house’ can conjure up thoughts of small dark spaces, but these tree houses are bright and airy, with multiple windows, allowing you to appreciate the stunning scenery.

The Brochs of Coigach

A broch is a prehistoric stone roundhouse, and many can be found throughout the Highlands and islands. The Broch’s of Coigach are two holiday homes built to look just like brochs but with a modern twist. With their contemporary décor and large windows they are bright with fantastic views of Scotland’s landscape.

Atholl Palace Hotel

The Atholl Palace is a stunning hotel in Pitlochtry. The hotel is set on beautiful ground and is very popular for weddings due to the stunning setting. Due to the history of Atholl Palace, every room is unique with original features. If you’re looking for the quirkiest experience, the Turret Suites would be the ideal rooms for you, situated in the highest location in the palace, the circular Scottish Baronial towers. The hotel also offers lodges if you want a more secluded stay.
