Autumn has arrived and during the coming months we’ve a host of new shows, exercise regimes and recipes to enjoy.
YOGA AT HOME
Just because the weather isn’t in your favour, it doesn’t mean your exercise regime has to come to an end. Thankfully, YouTube has thousands of channels dedicated to doing yoga in the comfort of your own living room. Check out SarahBethYoga, LivestrongWoman or Yoga with Adriene for classes that will ease you in.
For an activity the whole family will enjoy, make your way to your nearest ice-skating rink. Most rinks in Scotland offer parent and toddler skating sessions, and public skating times, depending on age and ability. Make sure to pack your gloves and hat for this one.
THE CROWN SEASON THREE
After an almost two-year break, The Crown is back and we couldn’t possibly be more excited. Olivia Coleman will inherit the role of Queen Elizabeth from Claire Foy, with Tobias Menzies and Helena Bonham Carter also joining the cast. The show returns to Netflix on 17 November, so you have until then to binge the first two seasons.
GAVIN AND STACEY
What’s occurring? New Gavin and Stacey, that’s what. Almost 10 years after the show last aired, Gavin, Stacey, Smithy, Nessa and the gang are back for a one-hour Christmas special – we’re counting down the days.
There’s nothing better than coming home on a cold day to a bowl of warm, homemade soup. Cook up a storm in the kitchen, raid the fridge of all your leftover veg and throw it in the pot – the way soup was meant to be enjoyed. We’re warming up already.
We all like a Christmas tipple, but why not spice things up a bit this year with a Peppermint White Russian, Mistletoe Margarita or a soothing cup of mulled wine to start the festive season off early? Head to BBC Good Food for Christmas cocktail inspiration that will impress your guests.
If you’re looking for fun for all the family this autumn, why not get your wellies on and head down to your nearest farm to pick your own pumpkins before Halloween. Arnprior Farm in Stirling is the top spot year after year, but there are opportunities to go pumpkin picking throughout Scotland.
Fans of The Handmaid’s Tale on Channel 4, or Margaret Atwood’s original novel, you’re in luck. The sequel is this year’s most highly anticipated book. It picks up 15 years after The Handmaid’s Tale, narrated by three women of Gilead. Already longlisted for The Booker Prize 2019, this is one not to miss.
