Switch off from current affairs with these self-care tips

There’s a lot happening in the world right now, and it seems we can’t go three minutes without hearing something about the ever-impending Brexit.

We’re bringing you our best self-care tips, so you can tune out of the stress of current affairs for a moment, and treat yourself.

PAMPER

Let’s start off with the obvious: there’s nothing a little pamper session won’t solve. Grab yourself a cute Korean sheet mask, your favourite nail varnish, and the best body scrub you can find, to rejuvenate yourself, and give yourself a well-earned break.

BOOKS

Books have a transformative power, and are sure to transport you out of the stressful world we live in. Focus on the problems and obstacles facing the characters and forget about all your deadlines: work and Brexit alike.

Make sure to put your phone away for at least an hour before bed, and read a book instead: you might be surprised the difference it can make.

SOCIAL MEDIA CLEANSE

Social media: the one thing that keeps us constantly tied to the overwhelming amount of problems the world is having right now. Not only that, but it keeps you updated on the rantings of your friends, family and that one girl you went to school with, that you haven’t spoken to in years, who is really offended you don’t want to buy into her pyramid scheme.

It’s normal to feel a bit lost, or disconnected from the world when you come off social media, but this is completely normal. We’re so used to having news and information at the touch of a button, it can be strange to try to switch off for a while.

Why not start small, and turn your phone off for one evening, or even just turn off your notifications? Without the constant buzzing in the background, you might not even miss it.

We live in strange times where we’re constantly bombarded with news, whether we want to be or not.

Wanting to get off the grid is completely normal, and with these tried and tested methods, you’ll be refreshed to take on everything the world has to throw at you.
