#MakeSomeonesDay this St. Andrews Day

Every year, Scotland celebrates its national day: St. Andrews Day. This year, the theme is #MakeSomeonesDay so here are a few tips to put a smile on someone’s face today.

Scotland prides itself on being a kind and tolerant nation, which is why this St. Andrews Day, the official campaign aims to spread positivity, and making meaningful differences in people’s lives.

If you’re stuck for ideas on how you can help someone out today, don’t worry. We’re here to help.

Lets start with the obvious one. Charities across the country work hard everyday to help those less fortunate. Whether you want to donate some cash, some clutter, or even your time, it will be greatly appreciated.

Not only will it make you feel like you’re making a difference, but you’ll be helping those who really need it.

It’s no secret that Scotland is currently experiencing a homeless crisis, with thousands of people sleeping rough every night. Any loose change you have is always welcome, as are hot drinks, food and blankets. Many homeless people say that the worst part is feeling invisible, so if you have time, why not stop and chat to someone? You never know what could happen, and you’d definitely #MakeSomeonesDay

Why not phone a friend or family member you’ve not spoken to in a while? Life is busy and sometimes it’s hard to keep in touch with the people we care about, but today is the perfect day to reach out and catch up with someone you’ve not chatted with in a long time.

Sometimes, it’s those nearest and dearest to us that bear the brunt of our stress, sadness and anger. Take the time today to show your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, partner, child, parent or relative how much you appreciate them. It doesn’t have to be much – make them a cup of tea or make them a packed lunch for work. A hand written card is always a good idea.

Let everyone know that you’re spreading the love this St. Andrews Day by using the hashtag #MakeSomeonesDay, and tell the world how you’re helping to make it a little bit better and brighter.
